Shared Internet access in a local area network (LAN) often brings problems for the network administrators. Lack of network traffic control tools, causes slow connection and inappropriate bandwidth usage which leads to an inefficient system. These problems originate from an absence of necessary management tool to organize and manage resources efficiently. More specifically some of the problems are due to the lack of:

• Efficient control over Internet traffic
• Tools to classify users and their access to the Internet.
• Restriction policies to manage users and their amount of access to the Internet based on time or transfer.

Damsun has developed a software called LAN Accounting to provide network administrators with a powerful tool for controlling Internet usage.
